The World Series of Poker Europe (the European equivalent of the WSOP), unveiled its program for the 2012 edition. The series of tournaments will be held once again this year in France, more precisely in Cannes, from September 21 to October 4 with 7 events. This 6th edition of the WSOPE tournaments will have places to the Casino Barrière de Cannes Croisette and the Hôtel Majestic Barrière.
If this series of tournaments says it nothing, remember that last year, PhilLeDingue, a legend on our forums, had won a bracelet in one of these tournaments, finishing 1 of the tournaments of OLP shorthanded at $ 1500. Here is the list of upcoming tournaments and reigning for these tournaments champions:
€2500 six Handed NLHE - 21 September (Guillaume Humbert)
€1000 NLHE - 22 September (Andrew Hinrichsen)
€5000 pot Limit Omaha - 24 September (Steve Billirakis)
€3000 NLHE Shootout - 25 September (Tristan Wade)

€1500 six Handed PLO - 27 September (Philippe Boucher)

As you can see, due to French legislation, only Hold'em tournaments ' em and Omaha will be allowed.
Alain Fabre, CEO of the Casino Barrière Croisette de Cannes recently stated in a press release:
"The first edition of the WSOPE, aside from being a real success, allowed us to be agent of the finest poker in Europe competition, which gave a real pleasure to all the teams. "We look forward to again receive the players, which promise to come than last year, and have the ambition to make this 'Festival of poker' most flamboyant".
Meanwhile, Ty Stewart, vice-president of the WSOP said: "we have advanced event 2 weeks, in order to take advantage of the climate of Cannes and everything this city has to offer. You can ask any participant last year, this tournament is a major event of the year not to be missed under any circumstances. We are waiting for already more than 1,000 players to the Main Event, and we are ready to receive them".
It should be remembered that the World Series of Poker Europe had won the award for the best event of the year at the European Poker Awards last December.
If the tournament series takes place again this year in France, this is no coincidence. Last year, the main tournament to 10,400 euros attracted 593 players, or about 200 players over time that the WSOPE were in England. This year, organizers are optimistic to hope to accommodate 1000 people only for the main event!
For poker bulimics who are never enough, please note that several side events will be presented during these dates for a total of 48 tournaments between 1000euros and 10,000 euros.
