2011 WSOP - Christopher McClung strikes again - summary July 9

wsop-2011-christopher-mcclung-frappe-encoreExcellent day for Quebecers who were participating in the day 1 c of the WSOP main event: believed that Friday was excellent for the Quebec... and that yesterday will have proved us that there was still room for improvement!

As expected, a large crowd gathered to this day (2181 participants), far exceeding the participation of day 1a (897 participants) and 1 (b) (978 participants). The Quebec delegation was particularly large, with not less than 37 registered players.

The day had to unfortunately be concluded sooner for Quebecers Eric Afriat, Gregory Baksic, Robert Cohen, David Corriveau (Popers), Etienne Daoust, Yann Dion (yadio), Laurence Grondin (Sharon), Jason Hallée (jayggins), Justin Kuzmicki, Jean-Philippe Matte (JPhil), Said Michailidis, Ioannis Pentefountas and Spencer Stacey: these 13 Quebec completed the 710 victims of the day.

Others will have all been able to survive this first day. The day was particularly beneficial for Christopher McClung (D0r1t0s) which has been considered for a long time as being the chip leader, before finally seeing his title of chip leader he escaped during the official count: another player exceeded of barely 1000 chips.

The Québécois Armenak Kizirian is also in the top of the standings, in 17th place. It is followed not too far by three members of PokerCollectif who complete the top 100: Ahmad (Jean-Christophe Ferreira) in 54th place, Vluff (Vincent Jacques) in 58th place and Jonathan Garneau (Kiwikaki) in 75th place.

Among former WSOP champions, Jonathan Duhamel (Poker_John) will also continue his adventure of the WSOP and hope to defend his title: he finds himself at the moment ranked 692nd. He also finds himself accompanied by other former champions, such as Bobby Baldwin, Scotty Nguyen, Dan Harrington, Joe Cada and Phil Hellmuth Jr.

Chris Moneymaker, for its part, will not have the same chance: he made himself eliminated the first levels when he found himself all-in with a pair of 3s on a 9TJ table: his opponent was TT.

Here is the complete classification of Quebecers for day 1 c:
