Event #50 - Triple - luck No - Limit Hold'Em $ 5000 - an another bracelet for the France
What year for France so far. After 50 events, here with already 4 world series of poker bracelets. Antonin Teisseire was back to do battle with his last three opponents, and it will have managed to get rid of opponents of the less expeditious way. Yet, the 4 players were all virtually tied, and could expect a rather long day. But in less than 30 minutes of play, Eric Froelich and Adam Geyer had already made the weapons.
Despite good opposition of Darryl Ronconi who started the headsup with a net disadvantage, he never managed to get over it and the french Antonin Teisseire was able to confirm his victory.
It's the 9th bracelet at the WSOP of the France, but the 4th in this 2011 edition. The 2011 edition of the WSOP has definitely taken the blue-white-red colours, while Tang takes his first bracelet and $ 825 604
Event #51-Pot - Limit Omaha Hi - Low 8-or-better $ 1500 - an investment paying for David Singontiko
At the dawn of the last day of the tournament, David Sands had a monstrous ahead of its closest rivals, with more than twice that amount in chips. Event #52 - Hold' mixed (limit and no limit) $ 2500 - a victory for Matt Matros
Matt Matros, specialist of Hold'Em limit, wins second bracelet of his career (he had won a Hold'em event ' limit to $ 1500 the last year). Matros, providing a PokerCollectif several articles of strategy, gave a solid performance on the final table while the #52 tournament was one of the few tournaments to reach the final table after only 2 days.
After having been extremely shortstack at the dinner break, Matros was able to double a few times, and then to dominate his opponents during the round of hold'em limit. Once faced with only two opponents, Matros eliminated his good friend Matt Hawrilenko in 3rd place, and then Jonathan Lane in 2nd place to confirm his victory, winning $ 303 501.
Event #53 - Championship of Hold'Em $ 1000 for women - Geneviève Ghanem in 8th place
Could Quebec won his first bracelet at the WSOP this year due to the performance of a woman? With only 14 players remaining and Geneviève "pickpocket" Ghanem in 8th place, Quebec has a real chance to win a first bracelet this year after several presences in final table.
Geneviève Ghanem thus mimics his buddy, GabyGaby, who finished fourth two weeks ago. Will be able to make it better than her lover do? With the approach of the main event of the WSOP which will mark the end of the 2011 world series, players are likely to want a last chance to win a bracelet so that the events of hold'em no limit buy-in "small" starts to be rare. Players therefore rushed to the registration desk, while the first day of this event takes place over two days. The day 1a will have attracted fewer than 2000 players; day 1 b will begin today, and survivors will be then combined the two days later, on the day 2.
Already on day 1A, a score of Quebecers were present, and five of them are already guaranteed to pass the day 2. It comes to Roch Cousineau (20th), Stéphane Desrosiers (79th), Victor Cowen (95th), Jean-Philippe Piquette (152nd) and Denis Paquin (156th). Many other québécois should be added on the day 1 b.
Event #55 - the players $ 50,000 – Guillaume Rivet in middle of Pack Championship.
Not less than 124 players have spent $ 50,000 to participate in the tournament of champions. A single Quebecer took part to the event... and no, it's not Jonathan Duhamel! It is rather Guillaume 'SixZeros' Rivet, which is experiencing excellent results this year at the WSOP.
With a slow structure, could be expected with very few elimination today, and this is actually what happened: only 5 players had to bow down now. Arturo Diaz was the first victim (eliminated by Phil Galfond) in a set over set situation, Galfond had a set of checkers against the set of 10 for Diaz.
Phil Laak, Andrew Pantling, Jani Sointula and Eli Elzra were the only other victims.
The action will resume today, while only 5 levels of 100 minutes each will be played. At the dawn of this new day, this is Doug Booth that sits at the top, but it is followed very closely by Greg Mueller and Yan Chen.
The first 16 places will reap a minimum of $ 108 503, while the winner will collect $ 1 720 328. A player who finished in second place can nevertheless consolation thanks a million dollars more.
