Several people have had the bite of poker by listening to the movie Rounders (players). Released in 1998, Rounders tells the adventures of Mike McDermott, a talented student at poker who hesitate to become professional. It is always accompanied by his friend Lester ' Worm-the maggot "Murphy, a young player pro a little reckless. The film became a classic due to the famous heads-up between Mike McDermott and KGB who is portrayed by John Malkovich.
It's now official; Miramax recently announced by voice of release that his famous film will be a sequel.
"Miramax and the Weinstein Company announced an agreement to create the sequels of many assets of the Miramax catalog [...]. The first films to be produced according to this Covenant will the consequences of "Bad Santa", "Players" and "Shakespeare in Love".
The cast was not confirmed however. The only thing confirmed is the envy of the two leading actors (Matt Damon and Edward Norton), to resume their role. Personally, I would have much less pleased to see this continued if the two leading actors are no longer the same.
I do not know how Miramax that will produce the film (in partnership with The Weinstein Company), will direct the film. The characters of Rounders are players who earn their living by playing live poker, looking at the four corners of the city the more juicy parts. Today, with online poker, this image of the poker player is very accurate. This is the challenge that will face David Levien and Brian Koppelman, the two authors of the film. Meanwhile, they were also the authors of the TV TILT series, which has had only one season on ESPN.
Here in closing a few comments from Matt Damon on the release of a sequel to the movie Rounders.
The film is at this moment developing and would be released in 2012. Expect it to be better than the last films starring poker. We hope.
