Poker Winners Are Different"Many experts believe that because of the rake, tips and other expenses, 85-90% of all poker players are losers in the long term". This is what you can read on the first page of the book by the author of 4 books of psychology, several articles on poker and 3 books exclusively dedicated to the psychology of poker.

What's the difference between players who are not "losers in the long term" other poker players? Those earning rather than to accumulate a small simple profit big and regularly? Here are the questions are relevant here to the author and to which it will seek to answer in his new book, Poker Winners Are Different. In addition, the book includes a few tips to help you find yourself in this small percentage of winners in the long term.

It should be noted that Schoonmaker clearly emphasizes the fact that there is no miracle information to increase the number of winning players in poker and he will always be losers. A study of a poker site online showing that only 7 or 8% of their players had completed the last year with profits it reported for this purpose. Intuition allows us to believe that actually, there are more losers poker players than winning players and there are very few winning players over the long term. It would be absurd to believe the contrary.

Schoonmaker says to at the outset that although the skills at the poker of players between them differ, they differ less than their "motives, discipline, thoughts on the game, reactions to different situations as well as their reactions to bad passes". Some players will try to improve their skills in the game to become best, others will want to change their personality, their ability to the table and facing the game. It is to the latter that Schoonmaker gives his attention in Poker Winners Are Different.

Following the introduction, parts 2 to 5 of book focuses on ways to be winning while trying to get the best self, controlling his emotions, focusing on the game, controlling the information transmitted to the table, by controlling his actions, his emotions. Part 6 deals with the way in which players winners managed to draw the maximum possible of their decisions.

The following chapters explain why some players win and the other not. They deal with the qualities that have in common all the winners. For example "winners focus on other players',"the winners are realistic","winners are always well prepared mentally","winners are doing their homework","winners depersonalize conflict", etc. There are also examples contrasts with the losing players. Because they are distracted for example, unlike the winners who always focus on the games, which evacuated their minds everything that does not help them to win. The losers have difficulty in many assimilier the knowledge that will help them win, conrairement to the winners. And the list of the differences may lie again and again.

As Schoonmaker has done in the past, it has here incorporated some activities to do so its readers can apply what they have just read. Almost all chapters (except the last) end with personal questions of the kind "how you are evaluating yourself you in this situation?" Readers are encouraged to note their responses in the last chapter of the book to be able to review them and identify problems. Schoonmaker also offers a step by step program to correct number of common problems.

Several readers won't want to do these auto-evaluation exercises. As Schoonmaker admits himself at the end of the book, one of his friends told him after reading his book: "people will not do half of what you suggest them to do". To this comment, Schoonmaker replied: "you're right. But most poker players are losers. And the main reason for it is that they are not doing their homework. If they want to be in the small group of winning players, they will have to work".

Anyone reading Poker Winners Are Different considering it seriously and by practicing the suggested exercises able benefited and improve his game. And consequently, become "different" lots of losers poker players.
