Online Poker: winners, losers and the stars of 2011

high-stake-poker1
Of course, the year 2011 was marked by its black friday. But this day has still not prevented some players know an exceptional year. This is the case for example of Gus Hansen, who in less than 4 months, has accumulated 3, 9 M$ playing on Full Tilt Poker. It is the 2011 player to have made the most money online and he has played a few months, which is quite impressive. What would have been his year if black friday had not hit him? Nothing is certain because, if you can best "Great Dane" (as his year online proves), it is also capable of the worst while it was named worst player of 2010 on highstakes online tables. Maybe at the bottom, black friday has been a blessing for him, preventing it from losing everything that he had won.

On a slightly less positive note for him, all that money is still stuck in his account.

The second biggest winner of 2011 online is Ilari (IIri end) Sahamies with 2. 2 M$ in earnings. Who had a year of hell (loss of 2 M$ on Full Tilt Poker), it "break even" with the year 2011 by winning slightly more than its losses of 2010. Note his jump at PokerStars this year. The year had not begun for him yet. In early 2011, Sahamies was losing $ 800,000!

In the other big winners of 2011, there is obviously Daniel "jungleman12" Cates, with profits by 1, 9 M$ on Full Tilt Poker. A short extremely pay year for one who plays under the nickname 'W00ki3s' on PokerStars. Since April 15, Cates has not played poker online (if we did to his account at PokerStars and Full TIlt Poker). Recall that jungleman12 has had its dirty reputation when his involvement with Haseeb Qureshi in the José Macedo scandal became public.

As more big loser in 2011, we find Tom "durrrr" Dwan, lighter of 2. $4M. Let's say that jungleman12 helped it a little. As a reminder, durrrr had launched a challenge to anyone who wanted to play it on 50,000 hands heads-up. One that could beat him on 50,000 hands would earn 1 M$. The challenge has not yet been completed, but jungleman12 gave a serious correction to durrrr who has a lot of work to do to finish winning (if one day this challenge ends).

In another order of ideas, PokerTableRating has also released its list of the most popular poker players, i.e. the most sought players (in the sense that members seek them and not to the Outlaws of course meaning) on his site! In the top 20, we find Philippe "takechip" d'Auteuil 20th.

The 20 most popular players are as follows:
