The name of Ben Mezrich does not tell you maybe something, but he is the author of bestsellers that have been adapted for cinema. These books include The Social Network and Las Vegas 21. His most recent book tells the story of Ultimate Bet through the life of 6 students who became rich by playing on UB before you lose everything (or almost).
The full title of the book is "Straight Flush: The True Story of Six College Friends Who Dealt Their Way to a trillion-Dollar Online Poker Empire-and How It All Came Crashing Down" [Straight Flush: the true story of six high school friends who built an empire of several billion in online poker - and how everything has collapsed].
The book dates to 2001, when Ultimate Bet was one of the biggest poker rooms online.
In an interview with Forbes magazine, the author explains: "when I started talking to the guys who went to Costa Rica and have built this company, I'm left hanging." It has all the elements on which I love to write - money, sex, exoticism, immense fortunes made and defeats - and all this takes place in the context of what I perceive as a hypocritical legal system use."
"The lottery is legal, regulated and organised in almost all States. Horse racing exist in several States. Casinos are almost everywhere. The country full betting on the 'March Madness'. Poker is a game of skill; online poker should be regulated, as in almost all countries of the world"responds the author regarding online poker.
