Dan Harrington and Erik Seidel elected to the wall of Fame of Poker

These nominees 10, included Chris Ferguson, Barry Greenstein, Jennifer Harman, Dan Harrington, Phil Ivey, Linda Johnson, Tom McEvoy, Daniel Negreanu, Scotty Thomas and Erik Seidel.

Each year since 1979, the wall of Poker celebrities hosted one or two new members. Prior to the selection of Dan Harrington and Erik Seidel, the wall had not less than 38 personalities.

Like Harrington, Erik Seidel was a professional backgammon player before being poker player. Subsequently, he abandoned backgammon to become a broker on the stock exchange on Wall Street, but after the collapse of markets in 1987, Erik Seidel found himself without a job and turned to poker full time. As early as 1988, it is registering for the first time in his life in a major tournament and found himself face to face with Johnny Chan in the main event of the WSOP (he eventually lost in the headsup against Chan). This scene has also been immortalized in the movie Rounders.

Seidel has won 8 WSOP bracelets (the first in 1992 and the last in 2007) and has raised more than 10 million in tournaments during his career.

While many were expecting the appointment of Seidel, of Harrington surprised many given all candidates nominated.

Known as "Action Dan", an ironic nickname that was given to him due to his image very tight, Dan Harrington played once with the founder of Microsoft Bill Gates when he was a student at Harvard. For 25 years, Harrington has had a career with constant gains. Since its first cash-in during the 1986 WSOP, Harrington became a recognized author, a trained businessman, real estate entrepreneur, a lawyer and a trader on the stock exchange. He was the champion of the main event in 1995. In total, he has amassed more than 6 million in gain. Harrington has accomplished a feat in 2003 and 2004 while he ended two years of affiliates on the final table of the WSOP Main Event. Still today, it is regarded as one of the most impressive feats in the history of the WSOP.

Although he now plays just part-time, Harrington continues to have success and be an excellent Ambassador of poker. His books "Harrington on Hold'em" (volume 1 , volume 2 and volume 3 ) are classics of the modern era of poker.

Dan Harrington and Erik Seidel will be entitled to a ceremony at the final table of the World Series of Poker 2010 in November. The ceremony will be held at 8:00 pm Monday November 8 at the Penn & Teller Theater.
